The best ice cream in the world is made in a place where the air is clean, the water runs crystal clear from the mountains, and cows graze peacefully on lush green pastures. A place like Gundowring Homestead in the Kiewa Valley with its streams, wetlands and abundant wild life, overlooked by Mt Feathertop.
It is here that Stephen and Sarah Crooke have been perfecting their ice cream using the rich creamy milk from their herd of cows, combined with the best ingredients including superb locally grown fruit, nuts and honey.
Stephen and Sarah are passionate about creating inspirational ice cream. They have studied the art and the science, tasted fabulous ice cream and talked to foodies all over the world in their quest to make the best.
Gundowring Ice Cream is made in a purpose built factory on the farm. Fresh milk, cream, egg yolks and sugar are blended together to make a rich anglais base, which is then combined with fabulous fresh fruits, regional honey, nuts and licorice and the finest imported ingredients like callebaut chocolate and vanilla from Madagascar.
In the first year of commercial production Gundowring has been awarded champion Ice Cream at Royal Melbourne Dairy Products Show and gold medallist for Raspberry, Toasted Honey & Walnut, and gold medallist for Ginger, Toasted Honey & Walnut, French Vanilla & Mulberry at the Royal Sydney Show. It was also awarded the People’s Choice award at the Melbourne Wine & Food Festival.
